Canvas Customizer is a browser extension that provides customization and productivity features for Canvas LMS.
Canvas Customizer accesses Canvas information necessary for its features, including course names, course identifiers, assignments, due dates, course colors, and related Canvas content.
The extension also processes settings users create, such as themes, dashboard layouts, notes, shortcuts, and To-Do preferences.
Information is used to customize Canvas, organize courses, track assignments, display dashboard widgets, and provide optional Google Calendar synchronization.
Customization settings and locally created information are stored using Chrome extension storage.
Canvas Customizer does not operate a developer-controlled server that collects users’ Canvas account information or customization settings.
Google Calendar integration is optional and requires user authorization through Google’s OAuth system.
When enabled, Canvas Customizer can:
Assignment titles, course information, due dates, Canvas links, and synchronization identifiers may be sent to Google Calendar to provide this functionality.
The extension requests access to manage calendars it creates rather than unrestricted access to personal calendar events.
Google authorization is handled through Chrome’s identity system. Canvas Customizer does not request users’ Google or Canvas passwords.
Canvas Customizer does not sell user information or share it for advertising, marketing, or profiling.
When users enable Google Calendar synchronization, necessary assignment information is transmitted directly to Google’s services.
Optional themes may retrieve visual media from external content providers.
Canvas Customizer does not include behavioral advertising or developer-operated user analytics.
Users can remove locally stored customization settings through the extension’s reset features or browser storage controls.
Users can disconnect Google Calendar synchronization at any time.
Disconnecting or uninstalling Canvas Customizer does not automatically delete the Canvas Due Dates calendar or events previously created in Google Calendar. Users may delete these through their Google account.
Canvas Customizer’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Google user data is used only to provide the disclosed calendar synchronization functionality. It is not sold, used for advertising, or transferred for unrelated purposes.
This policy may be updated when extension features or data-handling practices change.
